Cursed.

"I think once you go short, you stay short." - Hannah Honeyman
This quote is in reference to hair.
I have had short hair now for what seems like an eternity and a couple of weeks ago I decided that I was going to grow it out.
Well that is not working out so well.
I bought the new Vanity Fair magazine (Fresh Faces of 2010) and Carey Mulligan is on the cover.
Her hair is super short and so cute. I have to get it cut like hers.
I don't have a choice.
I am cursed.
How cute is she?!^
As much as I want long hair, I am really excited to get mine cut.

Confused.

About 90% of my posts have something to do with that silly four letter word.
Why?
I don't know anything about love.
Not a thing.
What I do know or think I know comes from movies.
And for the first time I am starting to doubt that's how it really happens.

The movies makes falling in love look so easy.

Not fair.
I have been waiting for 18 years and I got nothing.

What do I have to do?!

This is all your fault cute speech boy.
All of this would be so much easier if you would just talk to me or if you weren't so cute.
And in the dining hall tonight...what was that?!
I would bet big bucks that you weren't texting anyone when you walked by me.
Granted I looked at the floor every time I walked by you, but that's not the point.
Are you just as nervous as I am or are you just repulsed by me?
Please let me know either way, this is killing me.

I know this would be easier if my life were directed by Spielberg.

Love.

"I love fun."

Fun.

My favorite song at the moment.
(This is one of the bands that opened for Jack's Mannequin)
Enjoy.

Unreal.

JACK'S MANNEQUIN!
(be prepared for a long post)

After a great morning/afternoon of shopping at MOA, my friend Hannah (from MSUM) and I traveled downtown Minneapolis for a Jack's Mannequin concert. We got there really early and I was so so so excited but because we were walking around the mall for many hours in heals (I'm stupid) and new shoes and we both had extremely (extremely is an understatement) sore feet. So that plus the coldish weather prevented us from standing in line outside the venue. We waited in the car for about 45 minutes or something like that and then got in line. After about a half hour we were in!

These were our stamps. Monkeys with golf clubs between their legs.
So rock and roll.

We got an alright spot in the top balcony but there was no place to sit. The first two acts were pretty cool and they had some good songs. Fun was one of the bands and they were so entertaining. The lead singer (who was not too bad on the eyes) was getting really into it, bouncing around everywhere. He was just really fun to watch.

After Fun was done with their amazing set, Jack's Mannequin was on!
(even though we had to wait forever for them to set up all their crap)
I couldn't believe how phenomenal they were.
I am pretty sure my jaw literally dropped.

Andrew McMahon is a total rock star.

Watching him work that piano, wooo, I was blown away.
If you know me well, you know that I find men who play the piano really sexy, and this was not exception.
Why oh why do you have to be married?

These pictures were taken with my junky phone so I apologize for the quality.
But hey, it's something right?!

One of my favorite things he did during his songs was when he would be playing and just suddenly stand up, still playing and whaling out his lyrics.

You could just tell he was so moved by the music, and so was everyone in the building.

There was a little mishap during the concert.
There was a girl who was so into the music that she was dancing and bouncing around, bumping into people in the process. She was strange. She was dancing in front of a man, who after a couple of songs wanted to find a different spot to watch. His girlfriend didn't want to and made a comment about the dancing girl. The dancing girl's sister didn't like what she said and proceeded to shove (knocking into Hannah) and swear at the man's girlfriend. Security was there in a split second and to make a long story short, the dancing girl and her sister got kicked out. If you ask me, they had it coming.

But anyways back the main subject:
Andrew.

Another thing that he did that I completely loved was during some instrumental parts, he would put his face really close to the keys.
I don't know why but I really, really liked this!

But my absolute favorite part of the ENTIRE concert (and I think I can speak for Hannah as well) was when Andrew would look over his shoulder up to the section we were standing in and then point and smile...
THIS DROVE ME CRAZY!
In those moments (he looked multiple times) I was a silly, star-struck teenage girl.
But it really felt like he was looking right at us!
(considering we were the tallest people in the section, I think our odds are pretty good)

This concert experience made me want to be a band photographer. How awesome would it be to be able to go on tour and take tons of photos of these amazing performers?!

I hope your weekend was as good as mine.
Stay tuned.

Pee Ess - If you are reading this post and have no idea who I am talking about, I strongly recommend you check them out NOW!
I promise you will not regret it.

Encouraged.

It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside
I'm not one of those, who can who can easily hide
I don't have much money, but boy if I did
I'd by a big house, where we both could live

So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do
You see I've forgotten, if they're green or they're blue
Anyways the thing is, what I really need
Yours are the sweetest eyes, I've ever seen

Timeless.

If reincarnation exists, do you think I could make a request?
Emma Watson would definitely be close to the top of my list.

Just look at her, so timeless.
She reeks of pure beauty.
(plus how cool would it be to be British?!)

Interesting?

Tonight my friend Amanda told me she loved to read my blog. She said it was interesting and the highlight of her day.
Ha!
This was funny to me because I pretty much just blog about little things that happen in my life and weird things I feel.
I never thought it would be interesting to anyone.
So this one is for you Amanda.
Thanks for being my best friend.

(This would be us if we lived in the 60's)

Pleased.

Happy Monday Bloggers.
For me, this Monday only deserves a half smile.
There have pretty much been an equal amount of good and bad things that have happened.

Let's start with the good:
-Clean bathroom.
-Carl Oltvedt (last semester's drawing Prof.) offered me a job for next year in the art dept.
-That same wonderful man asked if he could use my final from last semester for the MSUM art website.
-Found the book I was looking for in the library.
-Made the Dean's List.
-I saw Ms. Hannah Honeyman.

Here comes some bad:
-My eyes felt weird when I woke up.
-My speech crush wasn't in class today.
-My speech teacher is psycho.
-I can't draw faces.
-Got a B- on my first English paper.
-Our room has still has an odor that apparently only I can smell.

To end on a good note, The BACHELOR is on tonight!!!!
Good luck Jake :)

Slightly Spirited.

Isn't this the cutest Valentine ever?!
I helped my friend Taryn with her boyfriend's valentine and it turned out so great. All I did was take the photos and Taryn did the rest but I just had to blog about it cause it is so darn cute.

Happy Valentine's Day.
(I'll try to keep mine happy)

Down.

Well tomorrow is Valentine's Day.
To be completely honest, it is not my favorite day of the year.
I wish I could say it was.
But with the absence in my love life, I am a bit of a Debby Downer each 2/14.

Although, I am optimistic for the day love will take my by surprise and carry me away.

Retro.

So my hair is starting to grow and I feel like I belong with this family.
But since I want long hair I refuse to cut it.

Bring on the mullet!

Deep.

I see you in my sleep.
Only in my sleep.
I can't wait to close my eyes.
You always take me by surprise.
Do you know I miss you?
And I don't even know you.
I wait patiently while awake.
Hoping you'll come upon me by mistake.
These butterflies keep me on edge.
To you, my heart I would pledge.
Oh how I long for your touch.
I shouldn't think of you so much.
But I knew we were perfect at first glance.
All I'm asking for is a chance.

Nervous with a dash of gitty.

This is something I am not able to do.
Especially when it is in front of 25 strangers, who are staring at me and waiting for me to screw up (which always happens).

I have a speech class this semester.
I don't like it.
I would rather retake math, that is how much I don't like it.
But there are a couple of good things about going to class:

1. A couple of my friends are in my class, it is nice to see a familiar face in one of my classes (since I am not a very good at making friends).
&
2. I have a school girl crush on a boy in class. He is pretty much the only reason I put myself together for class (9:30am). I have yet to have a conversation with him (I'm a big chicken) but I am convinced we have a connection.

Stay tuned.

Cold.

I am not sure why I didn't post this shoot earlier because I absolutely loved it! A couple of friends and I just drove out of Moorhead not quite sure what we were going to find but somehow ended up at this amazing location that was freshly blanketed with snow. Perfect. I was cold but the results were more than worth it.

^My favorite.

Stay tuned.

Taryn&Zac

Taryn is one of my really good friends from MSUM. She asked me if I could take a few pictures of her and her boyfriend Zac. I was more than happy to. Since is it has been super cold here lately we were forced to take them inside. I am still not really good at taking shots with bad lighting so most of these are black and white, but I think they turned out nice.

Informative.

Dear Bloggers,

Since I haven't blogged in a while I thought I would update you on what I have been up to lately.

Buckle up.
Things might get a little crazy.

Well this week has been a pretty long one.
With classes, homework battling this ridiculous weather, work, and trying to stay sane, it is hard to get a breath in.
It doesn't help that I have started worrying about my National Student Exchange application. I keep thinking I forgot to put something on the application or what if I make a spelling or grammar mistake in my essay?!
Ugh...can't it be March already, please?

Well if you scrape all of that away I am pretty content with where I am at...I guess.
It could be worse right?
Yeah.

One thing I find myself doing when I get a little stressed is getting lost in some good music.
My favorites at the moment include:

#1 Love you til the End - The Pogues
#2 Annie Use Your Telescope - Jack's Mannequin (going to see him on the 20th!)
#3 Baby It's Fact - Hellogoodbye
#4 The Galway Girl - Steve Earl
#5 Hey Lady - Thriving Ivory
(I suggest checking them out if you haven't heard them)

What else have I been up to?
Hmmm...well I have been trying to get in a habit of working out.
It's not really working out.

I had to give a self-intro speech in my speech class on Monday, and I was peeing my pants the entire time.
(not literally, but I was really nervous)

I've been eating chicken caesar salads pretty steadily since the addition of the "Salad Toss" at our dining hall.
Props to Kise.

As you can tell I am having a pretty outrageous time up here in Moorhead (aka - Siberia).
;)

Hooked.

I had never really watched the previous seasons of The Bachelor.
BUT...I was introduced to this season by my friend Taryn, and I am hooked.
This season's bachelor is Jake.
What a hottie. He might just be the perfect guy.
I can't wait for next week! His is meeting the final girls' families!
