New crush.
I just watched Zombieland & I just couldn't help but fall for his delightful nerdiness & curly hair.
So adorable.

Trashy.

So I never really get into Halloween but I had a pretty awesome costume idea that I couldn't let go to waste.

White Trash.
I made a dress out of a trash bag and put on a pair of fishnets and some hoop earrings. Used a bra strap as a necklace and put loads of makeup on. And to top it off, I made my own cigarette out of paper and masking tape.
I scared myself, but I had fun with it.

Black & White.

Unattached.

Fate or free will?
Are you destined to travel one path in life or do you believe in the ability to chose your own path?

Of course this question was asked in my Humanities class this morning & I found it oddly fascinating.
My professor was telling us the tragic story of Oedipus,

[the son of Jocasta and of Laius, king of Thebes. Left to die on a mountain by Laius, who had been told by an oracle that he would be killed by his own son, the infant Oedipus was savedby a shepherd. Returning eventually to Thebes, Oedipus solved the riddle of the sphinx, but unwittingly killed his father and married Jocasta. On discovering what he had done, he put out his own eyes in a fit of madness, and Jocasta hanged herself.]

and the opposing themes of this story argues if Oedipus was doomed from the start by fate or if he actually had the option of free will.

Personally I am a believer in free will.
Probably because I'm not too fond of the idea of someone telling me what to do, even if it is a higher power. I like to believe that I am in control of my actions.
Plus, I change my mind way too often.
I can't really wrap my head around the idea that the choices I make are predetermined.
That's a little unsettling to me to think about.

I feel that if everything were based on the idea of fate than life would be easy and safe. No responsibility, no worry, no options.

With free will, life is a challenge and unknown.
But it's a life full of discovery, adventure, excitement and experience.
That's the life I'm living.
A life emerged in free will.
So, what's your answer?

Avid.

My current desires:

1. A weekend at home.
2. Patience.
3. Art History smarts.

Ugh.

Blah.

It's not enough to douse yourself in gasoline, you've got to light a match to make it work.

Star-struck.

Yesterday was probably the best Monday of my life.
Not only did my class only last an hour but I went to Hollywood with my friend Caroline to see Jimmy Kimmel Live!
And guess what?!
WE SAT FRONT ROW!
When Jimmy came out for the first time; I got to shake his hand.
It was amazing.
He asked if anyone was here from out of town and my hand shot in the air.
He asked me where I was from and began to make fun of me for being from Minnesota.
It was so fun!
MGMT was the musical guest and they were truly amazing live.
I wish I had pictures but the security guards took my camera before the show started and gave it back after.
Lame, but I guess rules are rules.
It was an amazing start to my week.

Here's the link to a part of the taping we were at:
If you look carefully, at 2:06, in the bottom left corner, you can see my hands clapping.
Yeah, I was that close.

Watch the full episode here:

Enthused.

Meet Caroline.

She is a girl I met here at CSUN who is also doing National Student Exchange. She was totally awesome for this concept I have had in my head for a little while now.
I love these photos.
Check out the entire session at http://www.wix.com/linnea_fitterer/photography

Isn't she stunning?!

Disclaimer: for some reason on my site, the photos get cut off on the bottom so feet don't usually show. SO FRUSTRATING. But I swear that she has feet and I photographed them. To prove it here are a couple of shot of her kick-ass heels.

Nowhere.

I CANNOT WAIT to see this movie.

Revived.

I had a great day in the darkroom today.
No necessarily because I produced anything spectacular but it was great because I practically had the place to myself.

My assignment 2 (contrast) is due in one week but I haven't decided which photo I want to use.

Here are a few of my photos:
[WARNING: images lose detail in scanner]
(tree trunk)

(lamp)

(my feet in some leaves)

(palm tree)

(my feet [again] in some greenery)

Film is fun.

At home.

I GOT MY RAINY DAY!
Well it's barely sprinkling but beggars can't be choosers.

Just what I need...

PLUS, I saw a guy wearing overalls. California must have known I was getting homesick.

Far.

Just when you think you've come close, you realize you're far from it.
I'm not talking about the sun because god knows it never stops shining here.
I'm in need of a rainy day.
