Bittersweet.

This is it.

My very last day in California,

& this pretty much sums up the mindset I'm leaving with:

I am forever changed because of this experience.

The good kind of changed.

My departure time is 11:50 pm and soon after I will be where I came from,

& surrounded by the people I love.

There are not words to explain how excited I am.

Thanks for being so nice to me California.

Oh boy, I've really been bad about blogging lately.

What's the matter with me?!

Here's a list to catch you up on the recent happenings in my life:

-Today was my last day of classes at CSUN.

-I'm really, really, really excited to move back to Minnesota.

[ONLY ONE MORE WEEK!]

-Once I'm home, I'm getting my hair cut like this.

[Something that I'm also really, really excited about.]

-& I've got a bunch of studying to do before then.

Hmmm, sadly that's pretty much it.

Let's hope things liven up around here once summer graces me with its presence.

My parents & little sister came to CA to visit.

We had a ton of fun.

Tonight, my friend Caroline & I went to a lecture by Joan Rivers!

& I have to tell you, she is one funny broad.

Seriously.

I don't know what it is about hearing old people swear a lot, but I love it.

Joan swore like a sailer & I couldn't get enough.

Her story was a great one to hear.

Yeah, I am one of those people that waited behind a tall fence (like a caged animal) for hours to get glimpses of celebrities (who barely acknowledged our existence).

But hey, it was pretty cool to actually be there.

Vacated.

My dad and older brothers made me a very happy daughter/sister this past weekend when they came to visit.

We traveled all the way up the coast to San Francisco.

^This place was absolutely surreal. If I could live there I totally would.

I fell in love with this city.

Then after we accomplished all of touristy goals we took a couple of days and make our way back to L.A.

I'm back in sunny California.

Yesterday I woke up in -28 degree weather and by the time I got off the plane around suppertime it was about a 100 degree difference.

I haven't really decided if I am excited about being back or not.

I had such an amazing time at home, but I am looking forward to what this semester has to offer.

Nicole Linkletter: Winner of Cycle 5

Well, today when I was waiting in line to buy back my textbooks in the bookstore,

I SAW HER!

She was ahead of me in line.

At first I thought it couldn't be her, just someone who looks similar. But then I got another good look and I was almost positive it was her.

So of course as soon as I got back to my room I googled to see if she goes to CSUN, and she does!

California is cool.

Pleased.

This is Caroline [again].

She is such an angel and agreed to let me photograph her for part of my final assignment.

Well we almost got rained out, but thankfully it quit right as we we met up.

She's a natural.

Today was another museum day.

The LA County Museum to be specific.

A combination of classic and contemporary art.

It's a place of wonder.

This took my breath away...

The Museum of Natural History is a good time.

Bliss.

Another fabulous California weekend.

Friday:

After art history, I took the bus to The Grove. I got a cute dress on sale and talked to a cute boy on the bus. Then got dressed up went out with a couple of NSE girls to a restaurant called Ketchup on Sunset Blvd. It's owned by Ashton Kutcher.

We had a good time.

Saturday:

Went to the mall in Topanga with my friend Caroline. Stacey London was there. To say I was excited would be an understatement. I worship her. It was really fun to listen to her talk. We also got our makeup done for free. Airbrush foundation is one of the greatest inventions ever. [Too bad there is no way I can afford it.]

It was a good day.

Unfortunately my Sunday plans include cleaning and studying. I guess vacation can't last forever...

Trashy.

So I never really get into Halloween but I had a pretty awesome costume idea that I couldn't let go to waste.

White Trash.

I made a dress out of a trash bag and put on a pair of fishnets and some hoop earrings. Used a bra strap as a necklace and put loads of makeup on. And to top it off, I made my own cigarette out of paper and masking tape.

I scared myself, but I had fun with it.

Better.

Just popped into Bloomies to take a quick pee break before a long day of shopping and look who was there...

Ello Gov'na!

Star-struck.

Yesterday was probably the best Monday of my life.

Not only did my class only last an hour but I went to Hollywood with my friend Caroline to see Jimmy Kimmel Live!

And guess what?!

WE SAT FRONT ROW!

When Jimmy came out for the first time; I got to shake his hand.

It was amazing.

He asked if anyone was here from out of town and my hand shot in the air.

He asked me where I was from and began to make fun of me for being from Minnesota.

It was so fun!

MGMT was the musical guest and they were truly amazing live.

I wish I had pictures but the security guards took my camera before the show started and gave it back after.

Lame, but I guess rules are rules.

It was an amazing start to my week.

Meet Caroline.

She is a girl I met here at CSUN who is also doing National Student Exchange. She was totally awesome for this concept I have had in my head for a little while now.
